AVe did not enter upon editorial dutie.s, as a business, but to liave an opportunity for a freer exx)ression as we thouglit, than eould be obtamed in the journals of the country; and \vhilst indulging in our freedom of expression on public topics, it was ever our āim to refrain from the slightest eneioaehmeni upon the sanctities of private life, We are content with tlie opportunity we have had. It has not been an irksome labor, and we have been greatly encouraged by many assuraiices of a cordial appreciation/ These have been expressed so warmly, that- we feel somewhat under obligation not to lay aside our editorial x>en' altogether, but to resume it at an early day. We have now ,eertain pressing duties, land boundaries to be settled, and other engageinents, that require for a short w T hile our immediate personal attention, and wlien aceonipiished we sliall make our bow again to you, as editor of tlie Nuhou.
