The maU's name, Ka Makana Ali'i (The Royal Gift), pays tribute to Prince Jonah Kūhiō Kalaniana'ole, who sponsored the Hawaiian Homes Commission Act in 1920. The Department of Hawaiian Home Lands extended a 65-year lease to DeBartolo Development for the mall that will generate more than $200 million in rent revenue to benefit Native Hawaiians statewide.
Many of the stores in the Macy'sanchored mall are already open, as well as state-of-the-art movie theaters, an array of restaurants and a Hampton Inn. To see the list, or to find out more about Ka Makana Ali'i, visit www.kamakanaalii.com.
