Aloha. It is an honor and privilege to have this opportunity to play a role in building our Hawaiian nahon. We are approaching nation building today with a new sense of urgency. We are inspired by the actions of our ancestors who sought to preserve our Hawaiian nahon. We are also enriched by the work of many Hawaiian leaders of the last decades who have done mueh to pave

the way. I stand here today with an impressive and diverse group. These leaders have already begun building a nahon. They are the keepers of Hawaiian arts and traditions. They are the stewards who sustain our 'āina. They are the innovators of improved Hawaiian education, health and housing. They are the navigators of various poliheal paths for our people. Together, we stand ready to begin a process meant to inspire hope and enahle all Native Hawaiians to take up their kuleana to help build a strong nahon. Our Queen gave us a powerful charge. She said, "Never cease to act because you fear you may fail." We will eome together. E ala! E alu! E kuilima!
