MCCORRISTON ʻOHANA RETURNS TO MOLOKAʻI

The island of Moloka'i has been home to the McCorriston 'ohana for many years. As many families have done, the sons and daughter of Edward and Mary (Campbell) McCorriston relocated to other islands and other states to raise their families. However no matter how far away from home one may go, their hearts still held a part of their island home. And now that the years have gone by, the three McCorriston siblings will be coming home from Califomia and O'ahu to be laid to rest alongside their parents and many family members at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Kamalō. The McCorriston 'ohana will be holding memorial services for Richard Neil McCorriston, his wife Noima McCorriston, Donald Campbell McCorriston, his wife Theresa Comell McCorriston, and Euphemia Leina'ala (Lei) McCorriston Tawney on Saturday, June 20. Richard, Donald and Lei were raised along with their other siblings who have passed on before them, in Kamalō, where they called home. The children, nieces and nephews of Donald, Richard and Lei are fulfilling their wishes, whieh is to retum to their island home on Moloka'i. Richard Neil McCorriston was bom Aug. 31, 1923, on Moloka'i. He passed away Sept. 11, 1992, in Pittsburgh, Califomia. Richard's wife, Norma Edna O'Neil McCorriston, was bom Sept. 29, 1928, in Melhoume, Australia, and passed away April 1, 2008, in Concord, Califomia. They are survived by two sons, Richard McCorriston and Mark (Karen) McCorriston, both of Antioch, Califomia, four grandsons and several nieces and nephews. Donald Campbell McCorriston was bom April 18, 1932, on Moloka'i and passed away March 6, 2008, in Fremont, Califomia. Donald's wife, Theresa Comell McCorriston, was bom Dec. 26, 1933, on Maui and passed away Oct. 26, 2008, in Hayward, Califomia. They are survived by several nieces and nephews. Euphemia Leina'ala (Lei) McCorriston Tawney was bom Jan. 29, 1919, on Moloka'i and passed away Jan. 23, 2009, in Kula, Maui. She is survived by three sons: Emil Emery (Debra) Tawney of Honolulu, Richard Wayne Tawney of Wailuku, Maui, and John Tawney of Las Vegas, Nevada, and one daughter, Eleanore Kehaulani Tawney (Ted) Wasson of Chattanooga, Tennessee. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. with a mass at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church in Kamalō.
