Cultural trademark conference
A conference to discuss the creation of a Native Hawaiian cultural trademark will be held on July 29 at UH's William S. Richardson Law School. For several months, the Hale Kū'ai eooperative and the PA'I Foundation have been conducting a study, funded by OHA, on the establishment of a Native Hawaiian cultural trademark. They've held meetings throughout the state and will present their findings at the conference. The conference will also include presentations by Rebecca Tsosie, the executive director of the Indian Legal Program; Maui Solomon, a Māori attorney; and Jesse Lee Monongya, of the Indian Arts & Crafts Board; as well as Hawaiian artists, cultural practitioners and attorneys.
