NOTICE TO INTERESTED PARTIES IS HEREBY GIVEN that an unmarked burial site containing human skeletal remains (SIHP No. 50-30-04-771) was discovered by Cultural Surveys Hawai'i, Ine. at a 350-acre pareel at Waipake Ahupua'a, Ko'olau District, Kaua'i Island (TMK: 5-1-03:06). The human remains lie within a portion of Land Conunission Award (LCA) 6730-K awarded to Naeole. Located in the immediate vicinity of the remains are LCA 6582:1, awarded to Pelehu, whieh lies to the northeast; and LCA 8257, awarded to Hanai, and LCA 6683, awarded to Moehulu, whieh lie to the southwest. Additional LCAs in the area include: LCA 8126 (awarded to Hulimoku), LCA 6586 (awarded to Pepeiao), LCA 6644:2 (awarded to Pahi), LCA 10018 (awarded to Lolohi), LCA 6335 (awarded to Keanini), LCA 6644 (awarded to Pahi), LCA 6585 (awarded to Palaha), and LCA 10020 (awarded to Luuloa). The remains were determined to be over 50 years old and proper treatment shall occur in accordance with Chapter 6E, Hawai'i Revised Statutes, Section 43.5, regarding unmarked burial sites. The decision whether to preserve in plaee the previously identified human remains shall be made by the Kaua'i/Ni'ihau Island Burial Council in consultation with any identified descendants. The Department of Land and Natural Resources State Historic Preservation Division (DLNR/SHPD) is requesting persons having any knowledge of the identity or history of these human skeletal remains to inunediately eon-
