ln its first year, MAMo (Maoli Arts Month) is an unprecedented event celebrating Native Hawaiian arts, artists and cultural practitioners at various locations th roughout O'ahu. Events include:

Fri., March 3 Nine venues participating in the First Friday Gallery Walk will showcase 50 Native Hawaiian artists, practitioners, poets and singers. 5-9 p.m. Nu'uanu Avenue, Chinatown. Mon., March 6 Kapolei Gallery's opening reception will feature works by Native Hawaiian master artists and their students. Noon. Kapolei City Hall. Sat., March 11 Keiki Art Day will feature fun art activities for keiki, including T-shirt screening, feather crafting, hala weaving and lei making. 10 a.m. Hawai'i State Art Museum. Thu., March 16 Artists featured in the multimedia exhibit "lfs Na'au or Newa" will conduct a walk-

through of their work.7 p.m. ARTS at Marks Garage, Chinatown. Fri., March 31 "Kū i ka Ni'o" exhibit opening reception will include the presentation of the first MAMo awards to master artists Rocky Jensen, Imaikalani Kalahele, Herb Kāne, Mary Lou Kekuewa, Marie McDonald and Ipo Nihipali. 6 p.m. Bishop Museum. Sat.-Sun., April 1-2 More than 25 Maoli artists will display, demonstrate and sell their works at the first Native Hawaiian Arts Market. 9 a.m., Sat. and Sun. Bishop Museum.
