Iz goes platinum

For the first time in Hawaiian music history, a loeal recording artist's alhum has gone platinum. Facing Future by the late Israel Kamakawiwo'ole has sold more than 1 million copies in the United States, earning him that Recording Industry Association of Americacertified distinction. Facing Future and Kamakawiwo'ole's posthumous release, Alone In IZ World, previously earned gold record distinction, having sold more that 500,000 apieee. In 1997, Kamakawiwo 'ole died at the age of 38. The fonner founding member of the Mākaha Sons of Ni'ihau had broken away from the group that included his brother-in-law Moon Kauakahi, and lohn and Ierome Koko. Kamakawiwo'ole launched a successful solo career under the guidance of producer lohn de Mello. Kamakawiwo'ole's music has found nahonal and international aeelaim, and has been featured in
