NOTICE TO INTERESTED PARTIES IS HEREBY GIVEN that unmarked burial sites containing human skeletal remains were discovered at Waipi'o Penninsula, Waipi'o Ahupua'a, 'Ewa District, O'ahu (Tax Map Key: 9-4-50:59) near the former site of Land Commission Awards: LCA 1685 to Peke, LCA 8241 DD to Kalili, LCA 8241 LN to Nahua, 8241 DD to Kalili, LCA 8241 RS to Keliikuhoe & LCA 11190 to S. Kanae The remains were determined to be Hawaiian, and proper treatment shall occur in accordance with Chapter 6E, Hawai'i Revised Statutes, Section 43.5, regarding unmarked burial sites. The decision whether to preserve in plaee or disinter and relocate the human remains shall be made by the O'ahu Island Burial Council. The State Historic Preservation Division is requesting persons having any knowledge of the identity or history of these human skeletal remains to immediately contact Mr. Kana'i Kapeliela, Cultural Historian, at the State Historic Preservation Division located at 555 Kakuhihewa Building, 601 Kamokila Boulevard, Kapolei, Hawai'i 96707 (Telephone: (808) 692-8037 or (808) 692-8015; Fax (808) 692-8020), to present information regarding appropriate treatment of the unmarked human remains. Individuals responding must be able to adequately demonstrate lineal and/or cultural connections to the human remains or individuals onee buried in the vicinity of Waipi'o Peninsula. Responses must be received within thirty days following publication. ■
