Applications for the 87 th Annual King Kamehameha Celebration Floral Parade, set for June 7, 2003, are now available. The King Kamehameha Celebration Commission is receKing applieations for the positions of pā'u marshal, pā'u queen, pā'u princesses, unit attendants and escorts, marching bands, floral floats, decorated vehicles, and someone to portray King Kamehameha. Volunteers are also being sought to assist with parade organization and monitoring, statue decoration, monitors and parking supenusors for the post-parade Folklife Festival in Kapicolani Park. Food and craft vendors are also being sought. The King Kamehameha holiday was established by King Kamehameha V in 1872 in honor of his grandfather, Kamehameha the
Great. 2003 marks the 130th anniversaiy of the holiday, whose theme is "Ua mau ke ea o ka 'āina i ka pono" (the life of the land is perpetuated in righteousness). Contact the KKCC at 586-0333 or fax 586-0335 for further information and applications.
