"What is 'Aha 'Opio o OHA ?"
For 15 years, 'Aha 'Ōpio o OHA has welcomed high school juniors of Hawaiian ancestry from throughout the state to a week-long leadership development eamp.
Activities include a tour of the State Capitol, a visit to Mauna 'Ala (the royal mausoleum), 'Iolani Palaee, Bishop Museum and more. The main focus of the 'aha is lawmaking: drafting resolu5 tions to be debated by the students who ^ are divided into senate and house of repo resentative bodies. Among them, they 8 elect a kia'āina (governor) and officers. o 'Aha 'Ōpio 2002, held June 24-29, was | presided over by Kia'āina Ka'eo a Kawa'a from Moloka'i, elected at last year's 'aha. ■
