Notice is hereby GIVEN that Archaeological Consultants of the Pacific ine. (ACP) representing Kamehameha Investment Corporation, has identified at least two unmarked burial sites at TMK: (3) 7-8-011:008, 009 and 010, Keauhou lst ahupua'a, North Kona District, Island of Hawai'i. Based on stylistic observations and information testimony, it is believed that the remains are most Iikely Hawaiian and proper treatment shall occur in accordance with Chapter 6E of the Hawai'i Revised Statutes" regarding burial sites. The decision whether to preserve in plaee or disinter and relocate the human remains shall be made by the Hawai'i Island Burial Council in eoncert with the wishes of lineal
descendants. The Council is requesting descendants of Maikai (LCA #10258:3), Pimoe (LCA #9702) or Keohulu or Keohuhu (LCA #7327), or Iwane, Ha'anio or Kauhihana, or families of Hawaiians who onee lived in Keauhou lst ahupua'a, North Kona District, or who may have knowledge regarding these remains, to immeiately eontact Kalā'au Wahilani of the State Historic Preservation Division at (808) 692-8015 or Kēhaulani Kennedy of ACP at (808) 638-7442 to present information regarding appropriate treatment of the human remains. Individuals responding must be able to adequately demonstrate a family connection to the burials or the ahupua'a of Keauhou lst. ■
