Donald Cataluna was chosen by Governor Ben Cayetano on Jan. 25 to serve as Kaua'i/Ni'ihau trustee through the November election. The appointment fills the vacancy created when Trustee Moses Keale Sr. retired Nov. 1 after 19 years on the Board of Trustees of the Office of Hawaiian Affairs. "To serve as the Kaua'i trustee is a real challenge whieh I am happy and honored to accept," Trustee Cataluna said upon his appointment. "I look forward to serving the Hawaiian community by working together with all the OHA trustees." From page 1 and he will serve as vice chair of the Program Committee, whose purview includes projects in business and eeonomie development, areas in whieh Trustee Cataluna has hands-on experience. f inee l996,Trustee Cataluna has Ē been a part-time lecturer at Kaua'i Community College lwhere he teaches management W courses in business, micro- and macro-economics and agriculture. He previously served as project manager in the Eeonomie Development Administration of Kaua'i County's Office of Eeonomie Development. His work there included successful

grant applications for two taro smdies and a water study to benefit homesteaders in Keālia and Anahola. Before that, Cataluna was, from 1990 to 1993, the chief executive officer of Hilo Coast Processing and president of Maunakea Agribusiness and Maunakea Macadamia Nut Company. From 1987 to 1990, he was vice president and manager of Olokele Sugar Company; Wailuku Agribusiness from 1979 to 1987; and Kllauea Agronomics ine. from 1976 to 1979. He is the father of Lee Cataluna, loeal comedienne and playwright and a former newscaster.
