_ MĀNOA, HONOLULU - On Jan. 15, the 'llio'ulaokalani Coalition staged its annual concert fund-raiser at Andrews Amphitheatre. At top, ho'okupu of 'awa, wai and other kinolau were offered to a traditional lele dedicated to Kāne and Kanaloa. Dancers representing Hawai'i, Maui, O'ahu and Kaua'i performed in unison, characteristically unadorned in protest of the state's attempts to regulate and control Native Hawaiian gathering rights. The mele hula performed here is "He Ko'ihonua Hōkū a Kāne" (celestial genealogy of Kāne).
