The Sex Abuse Treatment Center (SATC) and the Queen Lili'uokalani Chhdren's Center, with funding and support ffom the Sukamto Foundation ine. and Island Heritage, have produced a resource for educating Hawai'i's children and adults about sexual assault. "Let's TalkAbout Touching" uses loeal characters, activities and scenery, and introduces concepts of acceptable and unacceptable, inappropriate contact in an easy-to-read, non-threatening format. In 1997, the Department of Human Services received 436 reports of famhy-related chhd sexual assault, 185 of whieh were confirmed. A national survey estimates that six out of 10 rape cases occur before the victim is 18, concluding that rape in Ameiiea is tragedy of youth. "It is our hope that this book whl help educate ehhdren as well as support chhd victims of sexual assault in their heahng process," said Adriana Ramehi, SACT director.
