Akaka's requests for the Department of the lnterior anel the Department of Justice to designate officials to further implement reconciliation efforts as called for in Public Law 103-150, lnterior Secretary Bruce Babbitt has designated John Berry, assistant secretary, Policy, Management and Budget. Similarly, Attorney General Janet Reno has designated Mark Van Norman , director, Office of Tribal Justice, to assist Berry with further implementation of the Apology Resolution. In November, Berry and Van Norman plan to visit Hawai'i to consult with Native Hawaiians and Native Hawaiian organizations regarding the reconciliation process. Public forums on O'ahu, Nov. 12 - 13, 1999. Hearing iocation and exact times have not been confirmed as of press time.
