KIRC to patrol and study the shores of Kahoʻolawe.

The Kaho'olawe Island Reserve Commission has unveiled its most recent acquisition tool towaid restoring Kaho'olawe. The craft, named Hākilo, 'to observe closely,' will enable K1RC staff to monitor oeean resources within the twomile zone surrounding Kaho'olawe. KIRC has instituted studies on fish, seaweed and other living populations as well as the health of coral reefs. KIRC a!so studies the amount of sediment or runoff in the water due to erosion of the island.B
