TARO BEETLE
NUKU'ALOFA, TONGA — The South Pacific Commission has begun a European Unionfunded project to prevent crop damage and future invasions by the taro beetle in Samoa and Tonga. The commission is teaching agricultural officers to recognize the beetle and is producing leaflets and posters directed at promoting public awareness.
