Weavers directory now available
OHA s latest Hawaiiar cultural directory, Nā Lima Mikioi: Directory of Weavers and Fiber Artists was published in July. More than three dozen artists who work with lauhala, 'ie'ie, makaloa, wauke, sennit and a number of other plant species are featured. Nā Lima Mikioi, created by former OHA Culture Specialist Manu Boyd and former OHA Publi-
cations Editor Kelli Meskin, pre-
sents information voluntarily submitted by the artists through a survey form disseminated in February. The directory is beautifully illustrated with photographs provided by the artists, archival photos courtesy of Bishop Museum and botanical photos from University Botanist Dr. Isabella Aiona Abbott. 'Olelo No'eau or poetic sayings help to enhanee the theme. Directories are now available for reference at all state publie libraries, Hawaiian organizations and at OHA offices. Call OHA's Ke'ena Mo'omeheu (Culture Office) at 594-1930 for additional information.
