OHA's master plan calls for estabhshment of cultural centers "to achieve revival, enhancement and maintenance of Hawaiian culture." Estabhshment of a hving Hawahan Culture and learning center at Kealakehe, Kona is a move forward meeting this goal. Though the process is a long one, community meetings held in various parts of the Big Island have given OHA a positive reaction of the plan. Another positive reinforcement of the center at Kealakehe eame from the Board of Land and Natural Resources. The board endorsed the plan. Further steps need to be taken on the estabhshment of the center, permits need to be obtained, construction needs to be done and the center may be completed by 1998.
