Kaho ʻolawe elean-up vendor work shops on Maui, Molokaʻi and Lānaʻi
Kaho'olawe vendor workshops on Maui, Moloka'i, and Lana'i Ogden Environmental Energy Svc., one of the major contractors competing for the Kaho'olawe elean-up, will host three workshops for Hawai'i fhms that ean provide various types of support necessary during the restoration of the island. At eaeh workshop Ogden will provide an overview of the support likely to be needed to undertake the Kaho'olawe restoration project. This support will involve vendor requirements to preserve the island's cultural, achaeological, as well as biological resources, while restoring the Iand to its former condition through ordinance removal. Mentoring opportunities will be available to vendors selected to support the Ogden team. Specifically, Ogden will be looking for businesses with expertise in such areas as general construction, food service, oeean and air transportation, water supply, sanitation, power generation, equipment maintenanee, fuel supply, medical, pest management, plant
nursery, data management, and survey services. Companies with staff experience or training in the following areas also are encouraged to attend: indigenous Hawaiian vegetation, endangered species, cultural or religious traditions, Pacific island archaeology, Hawaiian botany and/or wildlife, wetlands regulations, and federal and state regulatory experience as it pertains to the Kaho'olawe restoration effort.
