Navy looks for Kahoʻolawe clean-up crew
The U.S. Navy, in cooperation with the Department of Business,
Eeonomie Development and Tourism (DBEDT) is looking for
subcontractors to help with the elean-up of Kaho'olawe. Approximately $400 million worth of federal contracts will be up for bid and some preference will be given to Hawaiian-owned businesses. The types of businesses that will be needed for the job include: explosive ordnance detection and removal, construction, prefabricated wood buildings, furniture and fixtures, paper and allied products, chemicals and allied products, petroleum. rubber and plastic products, eoncrete block and brick, prefabricated metal buildings, electrical equipment, cooking equipment, refrigerators and freezers, water transportation, transportation by air, sanitary services, eommunications, wholesale trade - durable goods, wholesale trade - non-durable goods, building materials, garden supply and mobile home dealers, hotels and motels, laundries - commercial business services, health services, desalination plant/equipment, and surveying services.
