In the November 8 OHA election, the 7 1 ,096 registered OHA voters will choose among 45 candidates running for 5 seats. [In the 1992 OHA eleeūon. 74.9 percent of the 68,122 registered OHA voters cast their ballots for 19 candidates for 4 board seats.] Incumbents seeking re-elecūon this year include OHA Ohaimian and O'ahu Trustee Clayton Hee, Vice-Chairman and Maui Trustee Abe Aiona, Tmstee at-large : Rowena Akana and Trustee at-large Frenchy DeSoto. Because he was a candidate for the Senate. Trustee Kamaki Kanahele is not seeking re-election to OHA. IAs a service to its voting beneficiaries and candidates, Ka Wai Ola O OHA presents, starting on page 3, candidate statements of Hawaiians vying for 5 seats on the Office of Hawaiian Affairs Board of Trustees. There are 31 candidates for 3 at-large seats (no residency requirement), 6 candidates for one Maui seat. and 8 candidates for one O'ahu seat (these trustees must be residents of their island). Elected trustees will serve a four-year term to 1998.
