NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Cultural Surveys Hawaii, representative of tlie Lueile P. Kingman Trust, landowner, has discovered unmarked burial sites containing human skeletal remains on its property at the ahupua'a of Palioehoe 2 and Pahoehoe 3, opposite from tlie White Sand Beach, Palioehoe, Kona Hawaii, Tax Map Keys 3-7-7-8-20, 3-7-7-8-31 and 3-7-7-8-100. The remains were determined to be Hawaiian and proper treatment shall oeeiu in accordance with Chapter 6E, Hawai'i Revised Statutes, Section 43.5, regarding uiunarked burial sites. The decision whetlier to preserve in plaee or disinter and relocate the human remains shall be made by tlie Hawai'i Island Burial Council The Hawai'i Island Burial Council is requesting DESCENDANTS of KIPAPA and KEKAPAHAUKEA or HAWAIIANS WHO ONCE LIVED IN tlie aliupua'a of Palioehoe 2 and Palioehoe 3 to iimnediately contact Ruby Keanaaina McDonald of the Office of Hawaiian Affairs, 75-5706 Hanama Plaee, Suite 107, Kailua-Kona, Hawai'i 96740, telephone 329-7368, or Edward Halealoha Ayau, Esq., Historic Preservation Division, 33 South King Street, 6th Floor, Honolulu, Hawai'i 96813, telephone 587-0010, to present infonnation regarding appropriate treatment of the unmarked human remains. Individuals responding must be able to adequately demonstrate family connection to the burials or tlie ahupua'a of Pahoelioe 2 and Palioehoe 3.
