Today Ku'umeaaloha Gomes is on her way to a PhD in Political Science. After completing her Master's in Puhlie Heahh at UH-Mānoa in May '93, she decided the best way to improve the heakh of native Hawaiians was to work toward designing policy "by Hawaiians for Hawaiians." "After high school I worked for 20 years in Hawai'i's puhlie health system where I saw firsthand the needs of Hawaiians," she explains. "Returning to school after all those years was difficult but the scholarship money and supportive KSBE staff made it possible." If you are Hawaiian and in a full-time college degree program, you may qualify for some of the nearly $13 million in post-high school financial aid offered by KSBE.
