James Kapae'ali'i Scott, a partHawaiian and former Punahou graduate, will begin his tenure at the Honolulu private school following the end of the 1993-94 school year. He will take over from Dr. Roderick MePhee, who is retiring after 26 years as Punahou school
president. David Fairbanks, chairman of the Punahou Board of Trustees and chair of the presidential search committee said in a statement after ! the hiring decision that, "Jim Scott is a fine teacher, educator and t respected leader. He is an outstanding ehoiee to lead Punahou into ! the 21 st century." Scott graduated from Punahou in 1970 and went on to receive a ; degree in political science from Stanford University, and an M.A. and Ph.D. in administration. planning and social policy from Harvard. His work credentials include a successful term as headmaster at the Catlin Gabel School in Portland Oregon, and an eight-year term as teacher and academic dean at the Robert Louis Stevenson SchooI in Pebble Beach, Califomia.
