"Kaulana Na Pua," (Famous are the flowers), also known as "Mele Aloha 'Alna" or "Mele 'Ai Pohaku" was a song wrrtten by Ellen Wright Prendergast in 1893 for Queen Lili'uokalani, to protest the seizure of the Hawaiian government. Though its words are bitter, its tune is gay. It calls to the people of Hawai'i by island to remain loyal to the Oueen. Hawai'i State Archives photo.
