Scholarships and financial aid resources available to Hawaiian students
There are many sources of funding to help students pay for college. Here is a listing of some of the resources available to Hawaiians and part Hawaiians. There are other funding sources available to students. Refer to the state of Hawai'i Department of Education Bulletin 15 - Scholarship and Financial Aid for Advanced Training available to state residents. Bulletin 15 may be reviewed through your high school guidance counselor, college financial aid office or the Hawai'i State Library Reference Section. Eligible training programs with a specialty in primary health care are: Allopathic/Osteopathic Physician, Physician Assistant; Clinical Psychologist; Nurse Practitioner, Midwifery Psychiatry or Public Health/Community; Master of Social Work; Master's Degree with a specialty in Health Education, Nutrition, Maternal Child Health or Health Administration; Dentist; Dental Hygienist. Education Foundation directors meet Dr. Miehael J. Chun, Kamehameha Schoois president; Dr. Joyce Tsunoda, U.H chancellor; Abraham Pi'ianāi'a, professor emeritus; Alma Henderson, retired UH community college provost; and David M. Peters, Oueen Lili'uokalani Children's Center trustee, met in October to lay groundwork for OHA's Education Foundation whieh will provide college and post-graduate scholarships, tuition assistance for learning-disabled students and special education progams, and support and promote Hawaiian immersion programs.
