Civic clubs to gather

The Association of Hawaiian Civic Clubs is planning its 31st annual convention for Nov. 14-18 at the Pacific Beach Hotel in Waikiki. This year's theme is "Onipa'a i ka mana'o," (lit. "steadfast to the thought"), interpreted as, "Hold fast to the ways of our people." Tentatively workshops have been planned in response to requests from last year's convention. The usual functions include the 'Aha Mele song competition, ho'olaule'a and holoku contest, sports and 'Aha Aina Awards banquet. Election of new association officers to a twoyear term will take plaee. Current officers are: president Jalna Keala, first vice president H. Bruss Keppeler, second vice president Walter Victor. Jr. anel treasurer Betty Lou Stroup. Reservation forms for accommodations have been distributed to club presidents, according to Walter Rodenhurst, Sr. convention coordinator.
