Hawaii Earth Day 1990, to be held Sunday, Apnl 22 with a parade and fair, celebrates the 20th anniversary of the first Earth Day, on April 22, 1970. This event launched measures such as the Clean Air and Water Acts and creation of the Environmental Protection Agency. The parade theme is "You Can Make a World of Difference." It will start at 9 a.m. at Fort DeRussy and follow Kalakaua Avenue to Kapiolani Park. The parade will focus on alternative energy transportation. lndividuals and organizations are encouraged to participate with floats, bands, humanpowered vehicles and altemative energy vehicles. The Earth Day fair will be at Queen Kapiolani Park from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. It features educational
"hands-on" exhibits environmentally sensitive products, food and entertainment. Hawaii Earth Day is being funded through a grant-in-aid by the s'ate legislature to the Conservation Council for Hawaii. Major sponsors are: Chevron USA, Hawaii Nature Center, Hawaii Visitors Bureau, Hawaiian Electric Companv, Honolulu Board of Water Supply. The University of Hawaii, U.H.
