Culture Program Seeks Director Applicants
The Native Hawaiian Culture and Arts Program (NHCAP) is seeking a director. NHCAP is a new federally funded program, with great potential for growth and development in assisting our Native Hawaiian people to preserve and perpetuate our culture. The director will be responsible for carrying out the mission, goals, objectives and policies established by the NHCAP board of trustees. This position will administer a budget of at least $600,000 per year, and will oversee all areas of program planning, implementation and evaluation. The director will coordinate NHCAP's activities with Native Hawaiian and other organizations and agencies throughout the state, including Bishop Museum, whieh is the host organization for the Program. Desired education and experience for this position includes a bachelor's degree or equivalent, three to five years of responsible administrative or i managerial experience and proven ability to work successfully with others. Demonstrated knowledged of and commitment to the native Hawaiian community is essential. Knowledge of Hawaiian history and culture is desired, and an ability to eonverse in Hawaiian is preferred.
