Political Rallies

OHA candidates are busy with campaign schedules that include fund-raisers and rallies in various areas of Oahu. We attempted to contact all 17 candidates to find out what their campaign organizations have scheduled and received the list printed here. TheKa Wai Ola O OHA printing deadlines are a month in advance so sometimes we miss more current information such as functions that are planned after our deadline. Here is what we gathered, and these events do sound like a lot of fun, like Hawaiian style old-time rallies. Saturday, October 15 — Ellie Kupau is having a fund-raising pienie 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Hawaiian Heritage Center at Makaha, located opposite of Cornet and 7-Eleven stores. Music, entertainment, and food will be offered right on the beach. Tickets are $10 per person and may be obtained at the gate. All candidates are weleome and may speak for three minutes on a first-come firstserved basis. For further information eall 668-4520. Tuesday, October 18 — There will be a fundraiser for Moses "Moke" Keale at Lanikuhonua, Leeward area (next to Paradise Cove), 5:30-8 p.m. Donation of $25 accepted at the gate. For further

Wednesday, October 19 — An OHA Candidate Forum sponsored by the Waimanalo Committee for Better Government will be held at Blanche Pope Elementary School in Waimanalo at 6 p.m. Concentration will be on OHA's purpose, history and future as well as on how eaeh candidate ean contribute to making OHA politically strong and responsible on all governmental levels. Thursday, November 3 — A political rally will be held at Papakolea Community basketball court, starting at 7 p.m. { AIl candidates for public officd particularly eandidates for the Office of HawaiiMi Affairs are invited. There is no fee to participaq|, but there will be a registration desk and candidates will be allowed to speak on a first-come, first-s.erved basis. Eaeh speaker will be allowed to speak for three minutes and there will be a five-minute question-and-answer period to follow. The rally is sponsored by the Papakolea Community Association.
