Volunteer Agencies Form New Organizations

Leading volunteer agencies in Hawaii are forming the Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster in an effort to provide more effective and extensive service to victims of any future emergency. The new organization is pattered after a national group by the same name with the same purpose. Loeal participants so far include the Hawaii State Chapter of the American Red Cross, the Salvation Army, the Hawaii Council of Churches, East Honolulu Churches as well as both the State and City levels of Civil Defense. Representatives of these groups held another organizational meeting Feb. 10 at the Red Cross headquarters. All others wishing to participate are asked to eall the Red Cross at 734-2101.
