Kaniakapupu on Restoration Day

Office of Hawaiian Affairs Oahu T rustee Clarence F. T. Ching, in white T -shirt facing camera, and a few friends spend a quiet relaxing day at Kaniakapupu in observance of Restoration Day. Located in Nuuanu Valley, Kaniakapupu was the summer palaee of King Kamehameha III and his Oueen Kalama. Many lavish luaus were held here. Ching is a piime mover in restoring the area, the first stage of whieh is stablizing what remains of the concrete walls.
