Popular Calendar is New Museum Exhibition

Bishop Museum opened a new exhibition Nov. 12 featuring the artwork from the very popular Hawa? i, A Calendar ofNatural Events, 1 988, published by Bishop Museum Press and Kamehameha Schools Press. The exhibition is open in the museum's Jabulka Pavilion. The exhibition opening featured a preview of the new fall publications from Bishop Museum Press. The exhibition runs through December.

Dr. Wayne Gagne, a museum entomologist and natural history specialist, talked about "What's going on naturally in Hawai'i this fall." Gagne is also one of the authors of the calendar. Museum ethnomusicologist Dr. Elizabeth Tatar played historical recordings from the museum's eolleetions and discussed her new book, Strains of Change: The Impact of Tourism on Hawaiian Music. The artwork in this exhibition is a collection, about half of whieh is from the Bishop Museum collection that have seldom appeared in recent publications.
