Miehael Perreira of Kauai had six second plaee finishes and two third plaee good for 60 points and first plaee in the men's competition of the fifth annual Ano Koa Ki'eki'e held on the night of Jan. 16 as part of the Ka Makahiki Moloka'i program at the Kauanakakai ball park. Lorraine Puaoi of Molokai ran off with the women's title by totaling 80 points to 64 by Kaunakakai Elementary School teacher and defending ehampion Tsulan Purdy. Collette Puaoi was third with 52. Lorraine won on the strength of first plaee finishes in the uma, pohaku ho'oikaika, moa pahe'e, huki huki; second in the 100 and 440-yard dash; and third in haka

moa. In the men's division, Shane Bush finished first in the five e^eni^^ he competed for a total of 50 points and second plaee in the overall standings behind Perreira. Walter Naki was third with 38 points. Points are based on 10for first plaee, 8 for second and 6 for third. The competition was held before a sparse crowd on a clear night. The entry field was just as sparse as only four women competed while the men had double that total. Despite its size, competition was keen and enjoyable to watch.
