KS/BE Centennial Coordinators Named
The appointment of Kaleinani Brown and Marlene Sai Cockett as coordinators for Kamehameha's centennial celebration has been announced by the Kamehameha Schools/Bishop Estate. The two will assist in planning and facilitating numerous centennial events and activities as Kamehameha celebrates its 100th school year.
Brown comes to Kamehameha from Honolulu Federal Savings and Loan where she worked in the marketing and public relations department as an assistant vice president and director of special savings programs. She retired from HonFed after 25 years to accept her new position with the Schools. Brown has also been involved in various community arts and cultural activities and is active as a Kamehameha parent and grandparent.
Cockett is perhaps best known as one of Hawaii's premier vocalists — Marlene Sai — and is an actress as well. She also has extensive experience as an organizer, serving as president of the Hawaii Academy of Recording Arts whieh annually conducts the Na Hoku Hanohano awards ceremony. Currently she is president of the Prince Kuhio Hawaiian Civic Club; was a past director of the Kamehameha Schools Alumni Association and is a member of the Kamehameha Centennial Choir. For the past four years this Kamehameha graduate worked for State Rep. Daniel Kihano.
