Career Exploration, Parenting Workshops

Applications are now being accepted for a special series of free Saturday morning workshops Aug. 9-Nov. 22 at Windward Community College on parenting and career exploration. The workshops, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., are open to anyone. Day care is provided at no charge for children ages 2-11, with pirority given to single parents. The program is funded by a special federal grant to help men and women eope with the problems of job changes and family responsibilities. The series includes 10 sessions on Systematic Training for Effective Parenting led by Heeia Elementary School counselor Esther Cup Choy, followed by six sessions on career choices with WCC counselor Lynn Miller. "People will have a ehanee to explore different, perhaps non-traditional careers and to see how they ean manage the job of being a parent too," said WCC's Assistant Dean Diana DeLuca.
