Poet's Corner

Autumn Lullaby In her hand she held, a green leaf from her Tutu's kukui nut tree. It u>as large and familiar. Onee, it was a hat, Onee a fan, Onee a plate, And onee it was a boat, floating her to worlds beyond Maili Stream. She pressed it to her nose and smelled roasted kukui kerne!s mixed with the Kai, the Pa'a kai, the i'a. She held it up and saw in that mirror the green-life that was part of her. And she began to sing. — Puanani Burgess
