Library Hours lncreased

The Bishop Museum Library has announced an increase in its public schedule from one to five days a week. In addition, the photo collection has added Saturday hours to its public schedule. The library's new public hours are: Tuesday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Saturday, 9 a.m. to 12 noon. Photo collection hours are: Tuesday through Thursday, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.; Saturday, 9 a.m. to 12 noon. Both collections are closed holidays and holiday weekends. The extended hours and the hiring of an additional public services librarian are funded by a one-year federal grant under the Library Services and Construction Act. The grant also will fund three workshops in January to introduce the resources of the library and photo collection to public school teachers and librarians. For people unable to get to the library, some of the library will eome to them. The grant also provides for a librarymuseum resource van that will carry materials from the public libraries, Bishop Museum and the Polynesian Voyaging Society directly to community locations.
