Organizatioins or groups interested in learning about the Hawaiian quilt may have the services of two experts in the field. They are Elizabeth (Betsey) Akana, familiarly known as the Hawaiian quilter, and Elaine Zimm, director of the Pacific Friendship Fibre Arts Conference. Both women ean be reached at 2475358 or through the Kali-hi-Palama Culture and Arts Society, 521-6905. They are spearheading a drive to raise $8,500 for the purchase of a beautiful Hawaiian flag quilt made in 1899 by the people of the former Palama Mission, known today as Palama Settlement.
