English Column.

            Foreign News.

By the Ship Reynard, 15 days from San Francisco, we receive news from Liverpool to the 24 th of June, and from New York to the 10 th of July.

President Johnson has been quite ill. He left his bed on the 6 th of July, and was thought to be out of danger.

On the 7 th of July four of the conspirators engaged in the assassination of Lincoln, were hung in Washington, in accordance with the finding of the military Court, confirmed by Pres. Johnson. There were several hundred civilians present. It had not yet been decided whether to give their remains to the relatives or not. The names of those executed were David E Harold, Lewis Payne, George A. Atzerott and Mrs. Suratt. It said that Mrs. Suratt denied completely in the great crime to the last, and that her fellow-criminals united in exculpating her. Three of those implicated in the assassination are sentenced to the imprisonment, viz.:----Dr. Mudd. Arnold and o’Laughlin.

Of Kirby Smith’s army, 10,000 it is said have been paroled. The Maximillian Government were greatly alarmed over the intelligence that 70,00 American adventures were coming to the assistance of Juarez. Gwin’s Mission it was reported was successful, and he would have the assistance of 10,000 French troops, in establishing a Colony of Southern Rebels in Northern Mexico.

From Europe we learn that the breach widens between Louis Napoleon and his Nephew. The latter has gone to Switzerland. The Great Eastern had on the 24 th of June received on board the whole of the telegraphic wire which is to connect England with America.

Of the Shenandoah and the Whaling Fleet .

It will be remembered that the Shenanadoah was last seen by the schooner Pfeil in March near Ebon. From there the pirate went to Ponape or Ascension Island, by the 1 st of April, and there destroyed the Edward Carey, Bark Harvest, Bark Pearl, and Ship Hector, leaving the officers and crews on the island.

From there she went by the Ochotsk, and on the 27 th of May there captured the Abigail

She then went on to the Arctic, and up to last accounts had captured 20 vessels, all but two of which she had destroyed, both of which she sent to San Francisco with crews of the captured vessels.

She was near a fleet of whalers when last seen, and it is feared she destroyed them all.
