FOREIGN NEWS !

By the Smyrniote, which arrived last Tuesday, we have news from San Francisco to the 26th of April.

Funeral of Pres. Lincoln

The Funeral of, PRES. LINCOLN took place on the 19th of April with the most imposing ceremonies. Minute guns were fired from dawn of day from the forts around the city. The funeral ceremonies commenced at noon in the east room of the President's house. Pres. Johnson stood beside the remains and Gen. Grant sat at the head of the coffin, and the members of the Cabinet, and the foreign ambassadors were grouped around.
The Rev. Dr. Hall, read a part of the Episcopal service for the burial of the dead. Bishop Simpson of the Methodist Church offered a prayer. After which the Rev. Dr. Gurley delivered a funeral oration. At two o'clock the remains were taken to the Capitol, followed by a procession three miles long and were placed in the Rotunda where it lay in the state for two days.
The coffin was taken and Springfield Illinois, the home of Lincoln, passing on its way, through the great cities of Phildelpia, New York, Buffalo and Chicago. In each of these cities it lay in state.

Pursuit of Booth, the Murderer.

It is believed that Booth is in Pennsylvania, and that he passed through the city of Reading on the 19th of April. He is probably trying to get to Canada. Fifty thousand dollars have been offered for his arrest, and $25,000 for the arrest of either G. Alsorat or David Harold, his accomplices. All persons harboring or hiding either of these three men, will be liable to punishment with death.
The Secretary of War declares that he has information that the plan for murdering President Lincoln was formed in Canada, and approved at Richmond by Jeff. Davis and his associates. The one who tried to kill Seward is in prison.

Surrender of Johnston to Sherman.

Gen.Sherman had a conference with Gen. Johnston at Chapel Hill, fifteen miles west of Raleigh on the 16th and 17th. It is said that Jeff. Davis was at the time at Hillsborough, forty-four miles northwest of Raleigh, in communication with Johnston, Gen. Sherman's agreement with the Rebel Government had been annulled by the Federal Government, and he has been removed from the command of his army. The reasons given are that he recognized the Rebel State Governments, allowed the rebels to keep all their ammunition, annuls the law of Congress for confiscating the property of rebels, and gave terms which had been repeatedly rejected by President Lincoln. So now Johnston must surrender unconditionally, or fight against overwhelming armies.

Various Items.

The stars and stripes were hoisted over Mobile on the 12th of April.
Montgomery was taken on the 12th of April, and Macon, Georgia, on the 20th.
President Johnson has appointed the 25th of May, as a day of fasting and prayer.
All the Union prisoners have been exchanged leaving 60,000 to 70,000 rebel prisoners, besides Lee's army. Mr. Seward is rapidly recovering. Twelve Mormon preachers had been appointed by Brigham Young to start for these islands in May.

THE VERY LATEST !
Booth Killed ! Harold Secured !

A Clipper Ship passing to China, Wednesday morning, brought Washington dates to April 27th. J. Wilkes Booth, and Harold had been pursued by Col. Baker into a barn near Federicksburg, Virginia. They were summoned to surrender. Harold was disposed to yield, Booth was not. Finally the barn was fired. Harold then put his hands through the door and was handcuffed. Booth fired on the soldiers, standing with the aid of a crutch. He was shot in the head by a sergeant.
Pres. Lincoln's remains had reached Rochester in Western New York. Gen. Sherman knew of Lincoln's assassination before he closed his last interview with Johnston, and he himself communicated it to the rebels. His truce with the rebels is not regarded by the Union forces. They are being pressed in every direction. Jeff Davis is supposed to be carrying off between six and thirteen millions in money. Gen. Johnston's army proves to be one of the best armed in the whole Confederacy.
