            Ka lohe ana o Kepakailiula i keia mau olelo pili i ka make no na elele, a me na 'Lii wahine, ia wa koke no, olelo aku la o Kepakailiula i ka wahine, ame ka makuahonowai, i aku la, "E hoi koke aku olua i keia wa, no ka mea, ke hai mai nei na elele o ke 'Lii me ke kauoa ino loa i pili i ko olua ola iho; nolaila, ano e hoi aku ai olua."                         "Nani Maunaloa ke kuahiwi o Kau,

                        E 'uwe ae ana au i ko aloha --e,

                        O ke aloha o kuu kane ke lele mai nei,

                        Ke oni mai nei a hohola i kuu maka--e,

                        A uwe ka mea aloha he kane--e."

            Alaila, ninau mai la ka poe hoewaa,

MOKUNA VII.

NO KE OLI ANA O KA HOOKELE WAA.

                        "Moe Kalani ka ua kokoula,

                         Ka punohu ulaweo i ka moana,

                         I ku i ka palolo ula mea Lani.

                         O Kalani ka'u haupu ke lia nei,

                         Ke lia nei i kuu manawa,

                         Ua piha pono ia e waiho nei,

                         Eia la ke hoolaau mai nei,

                         Ka makemake--e; mahea hoi au--e!

                         Ma ko poli aku au--e; auwe!"

            Ma keia oli ana a ua hookele waa nei, ia wa no, puoho ae la ua alii wahine nei, a ninau ae la oia, "Owai keia oli," olelo aku la kekahi poe, "o Kawau," alaila, paipai ae la ua alii wahine nei e oli hou, alaila, pi loa iho la ua hookele waa nei.

            Ia manawa, olelo aku la o Kukuipahu, "Ae, heaha la hoi ananei ka hewa, na'u ka hunona."

            Aia hoi, olelo aku la o Kukuipahi i kona poe alii a pau, ame na kanaka hoewaa e hekau i na waa, "Maanei oukou e lana malie ae ai, e a-u ae au iuka, akahi mai nei ka hoi ke aloha o kela hunona no ka mea, ua noho makamaka ole aku la oia."

            A pau kana olelo ana pela, a-u aku la oia, a i kona a-u ana a pae oia ma kahi i kapaia o Waikuiwai, oia no ka wai aoao ame ka wai e inu ai, aia ma Kahaluu i Kona, e pili pu ana me ke ala aupuni, ia wa nae, he one wale no.

MOKUNA VIII.

KE KAUA ANA O KEPAKAILIULA ME NA 'LII O KONA, O KAMOHOALII KA MUA.
