D. 1894, (e nana ma ka Moolelo Hawaii,) a oia paha ke kumu o ke kanalua iki o ke Alii ame na 'Lii.

            Ia mau moku i ikeia'i ka bipi, ame ka lole, ia mea'ku ia mea aku, na mea pili i ke kino; a na ia mau moku no i lawe mai i kekahi mau mai ino i pili paa loa i ka iwi, ame ka io o keia lahui, a mai ia la mai i laha ai i ko Kauai poe wahine a me ko Kawaihae (paha) poe wahine ia mau mai ino, a hiki i keia la, ua kupu, ua lau, ua laha, ua kawowo, ua hua awahia a ia mau moku i lawe mai ai, o ka mai ame ka make kai lawe muaia mai e ia mau moku iloko o keia lahui; a ke ike maka maoli nei no kakou i ka hua i lulu ia e ia poe, aole he lohe pepeiao, a ke ume nei ia mau mai i ka elua hapakolu o keia lahui iloko o ka honua.  Eia nae, ua hoomahui wale mai ka mea Kaulana o ia kau (Vanekoua) ia Kamehameha, penei: "Aia ke Akua maluna ma ka lani, ina i makemake oe i kaipule ea, e hoi au a Beritania, a na'u no ia e noi aku i ke Alii e haawi mai i Kahuna nau, a i hiki mai ua Kahuna la ea, e ai-noa oe, ole pono ka ai kapu, he mea hoopunipuni no ia, aohe Akua ma ka honua nei, a ia no ke Akua ma ka lani."

            Aole i pau maanei ka lakou mau hana, o ka hoomaka wale ana ko keia, e like me na muli wai nui o ka honua nei, o ke poo uuku, o ka hoomaka ana ia, pela no ka pono ame ka maluhia i puka ma keia Pae Aina, na keia poe Misonari Amerika no i kukulu me ka ahonui lua ole, ame ke aloha hookamani ole.  Eia kekahi, ma keia mau hana mua i hoomakaia, ua owehewehe mai na kukuna malamalama o ka la o ke ola, e lilelile mai ana maluna pono iho o keia lahui holookoa &c., &c.

            Nolaila, auhea la ka pilikia kuloko o keia lahui holookoa i hanaia e keia poe malihini i hookipaia'i e ko kakou Moi II o ke Aupuni Hawaii nei?  Aole no no kuu lohe ana i keia leo a mau leo e wawalo ana iloko o keia Pae moku, e olelo ana, "he poe hewa loa na Misonari Amerika, he poe hoopunipuni, he poe puni waiwai, a he poe hewa loa no!"  Aohe i pau malaila ko lakou hoahewaia, e like me ka nui o ka lakou mau hana maikai i keia lahui i ikeia e kakou, pela no ka nui o ko kakou hoahewaia.
