A POPULAR RECEPTION
Her Majesty was received w@@@ popular demonstrations by all the people living in Waimanalo and its vicinity i.e. by all the @@@@@@@ and other @@@@@ on that estate and a dozen or two aborigines who were attracted there by the prospects of a free luau and a good time generally. This is a fair sample of the popular receptions which has been tendered by the Hawaiians during the royal progress, notwithstanding salaries were sufferers in consequence of popular necessities for luaus and other demonstrations to attract the dear people together. Never in the history of royal progresses in Hawaii has there been such an attempt to blind people into the belief that Her Majesty's proress has been an ovation. Not even the soothing and dulcet strains of Berger's masterly Band, has had any effect to draw upon the kindly feelings or to ilicit a demonstration in favor of royalty beyond a shrug of the shoulder or a grunt of dissatisfaction from the people.
