Kawaiahao Church.

"It is \vritten. my house is the house of prayer; but ye have made it a'<len of thieves." In the desecration of a temple of worship dedicated to God. it seemß to us a profanity to use it for any other purpose, except as a phiee of worship. The protestaut denoniinations, that follow this practise, mav be right in many things, but according to ecriptiy;e they are far behind those from whom they have seceded, and among some of the worse features of the many delusions □nder whieh they labor, is the misuse of the church and of reLigion to raise money for philanthropic or charity purposes. This ean be conducted in other and more appropriate houses than that whieh is set apart for holy work. The tabernacle in .. the wilderness and ihe temple at never were rightfully used for the purpose of raising money for any charity. It is no wonder that religion is a reproach when the rulers of the synagogues are willing to take more than their scripts and staffs to go and to preach the gospel with. Christ the example and his disciples lived and died poer in the thimgs of Ulis;world,' but rich in faith and humility.
