THE REPUBLICAN NOMINEE FOR DELEGATE NOT A FULL BLOODED HAWAIIAN.

The assertion has beeen frequently made my the Republican papers for political effect that Prince Cupid is a full blooded Hawaiian. Now, that is very far from the truth, and as much so as the assertion sometimes made by stock dealers that a three quarter grad Jersey cow is a full blooded or thoroughbred one. Prince Cupid's father David Kahalepouli wellnown to old residents of 30 years duration, was a quarter white, his mother Kekahili being a half white. Kekahili was the daughter and first born of the Cheifess Kamokuiki by a white man from one of the earlier exploring expedetions [expeditions] and so acknowledged by all the cheifs [chiefs] and Hawaiians of her days. This same Kamokuiki was afterwards married to Kamanawa, the grandfather of Queen Liliuokalani and by him had the High Cheif [Chief] Kapaakea, father of our ex-Queen Kapaakea, the fruit of the union of two cheifs [chiefs] always held higher rank than his half sister, the daughter of some foreigner of unknown pedigree.
