Completing -a tough seaaon without a single defeat, the Kawana- ; koa fir£t aid station's baskgtba'll squad was recently crowned th«i loeal O.C.D. ia-13 cage ehampiona. -.'he Kawananakea,unit eoppeei the pennant on May 2, when the Kaahumanu unit's squad foileited Jhe l%st game of the round robin ■ series. ' ■

Phe lēaguc was composed of two divisions, A and E, the teams being divided according to t'heir unlt*s locatic>n in the cty. The. A diviaion took n all stations . in. the Kaimuki, Waikiki, Makiki and Manoa districts. While Uie B consisted of staUons in the Nauanu, Palaina, Kakaako and Kalihi district3. The Kawananakoa unit wās entered m thtf B division whieh included the. Kalihi-kai, Kalihi-'uka, Palama and Kaahumanu units. The two top teams from eaeh di'vision met in a four-team round robin series to vie for the ehampionahip. In the B. section, Kawananakoa" and Kaahumanu earned the r!ght to represent thcir division in the roundjcobin series while in the A seCtion Waialae ahd" Slīōrārii gairied prēdādēncēT over the rest of the uiiits. In what was probable the most crucial game of the season the Kawananakoa unit defeated the Waialae cagers at the Salvation Army Boys' gymnasium, on April 24.

Thc Kawananakoa unit's basketball sq'uad consists of boys t'rom the Kamehameha School for Boys. Members who comppse the squad are Howard Benham, Fred Kamaka, Nathanīēl Burro\vs, James Cockett, Phillip Eagles, Edmund Hohu Christopher Hong, , Curtis Kamai ,Henry Luke l.i, | Francis MeMillen William I Stewart.

Because of their winning tlie championship the m*embers of the sqjiad are tp bc rewarded with a ehop s'ui dinner. Coach and supervisor Mr. Joseph Seung, built up the championship squad.
