FLEET RECEIVES FIRING ORDERS

British warships were warned Saturday to fire on Spanish vessels or airplanes in event of attack. However, they were not authorized to retaliate "accidental" hits.

Residents clinging to housestops Saturday fearfully watched the bombardment of Algericas by the Spanish loyalist battleship Jaime I, a cruiser and two other warships. They saw the shells ex plode and start several waterfront fires. The rebel gunboat Data caught fire and was regarded as a total loss. The Jamie, apparently hit by land guns, then continued to cruise the coast, pouring an occasional heavy salvo in the Algeciras vicinity. Vibration of tho bombardment damaged the British and Argentine consulates and virtually des troyed several houses in Algericas. There were only two known ca sualties. Loyalist airplanes, meanwhile bombarded Sam Roque and killed one person.
